About Me
Hello and welcome! I'm Lauren, an undergraduate student at Montana State University majoring in Food and Nutrition. My passion for nutrition and recovery is deeply personal- I have torn my ACL three times, and I know firsthand how challenging mentally, physically, and emotionally the healing process can be.
For years I followed a plant-based diet, including throughout all three of my ACL tears. However, throughout my own struggles with surgeries and rehabilitation, I began diving deeper into the role of nutrition and healing. I discovered the important of protein- especially the importance of animal protein, for muscle repair and recovery. This knowledge ultimately led me to reintroduce meat back into my diet for my third (and final!) ACL recovery to better support my healing and performance.
Through my own struggles with surgeries and rehabilitation, I realized the importance that nutrition plays in recovery-from rebuilding and strengthening muscles to reducing inflammation. My goal is to share evidence-based nutrition strategies to help others going through their ACL reconstruction heal smarter, recover faster, and come back stronger than ever.
I understand how challenging the recovery journey can be. The setbacks, the doubts, the uncertainties, and the overwhelming desire to get back to doing what you love. My hope is that by sharing my experiences and what I've learned, I can help make your recovery as smooth as possible!
No matter where you are in your healing journey, you are stronger than you think, and every small win is worth celebrating. Recovery isn't always easy, but you don't have to face it alone- let's navigate this journey together!
